Performing Art School



Concept:
Performing Art is about movement, transformation and communication. The building form is inspired by the artistic movement of body since performing art uses the artist’s own body and presence as a medium. The fluid form resembles a performing sculpture along the water front.



Design:
The school includes Dance, Music, Musical Theatre, Theatre departments together with library, lecture halls, gym and restaurant. It is arranged in a multi-story block linking through a bridge to a mid-rise building in the other half of the site. In the mid-rise building technical theatre arts, visual art and design sector is located. This school provides courses for students of 14-19 years old. The main theatre is designed in a half-sphere building along the main road with a designated parking to accomodate school’s shows. It can also be used as a venue for public.

Digital fabrication: CNC milling and laser cutting
